Austin's 1st Trip to the Dentist.....

This past Monday was Austin's first trip to the Dentist. We have been talking about the Dentist with Austin and what they were going to do for a couple of weeks now in preparation for his visit. We also had Austin come and watch Mommy & Daddy on our last visit to give him an idea too. We found a great Pediatric Dentist here in Statesville. I wasn't sure how Austin was going to do, but WOW did he amaze me. The office was very kid friendly and the staff was great. He went in the back to get x-rays all by himself; they said they were very impressed since most his age won't do the x-rays. Mommy and Cody then went back with Austin to get his teeth cleaned. They counted his teeth (20 perfect little teeth), they showed him all the equipment, they cleaned his teeth, they flossed his teeth, & they gave him a flouride treatment. We also got to see his x-rays; we could already see one of his permanent molars forming. Austin had no cavities and got a PERFECT report card. He did so good in the dentist chair; we were all so proud of him. When he was all done he got to pick a prize from the treasure box and a new toothbrush. They also gave Cody a toothbrush to chew on since his very 1st tooth popped through the day before. You did an amazing job Bubba; we are so proud of you!!!

Sunday with the Bodell Boys.....

In conclusion to our weekend, last night Mr. Austin decided to roll on out of bed and hit his face. I heard the thump and he came out of his room saying OUCH, but not crying. He said he fell onto the floor and then turned around and went back to bed. I didn't notice much last night, but as you can see today he has a nice gash down his cheek. Poor guy, he had a black eye last week from wearing a Bumbo seat on his head (and was told not to), he also had a bruised forehead from sliding off his bed head first (was told not to do that either), and now the lovely gash in the cheek. He is proudly showing me his face in the picture. What can I say? BOYS!!!

So this is what Cody thought about applesauce today. Austin thought it was the funniest thing ever and Cody kept wanting more and each time made a face and gagged. I finally stopped and just gave him his favorite thing in the world right now.......yogurt!!!!

He's still trying. He's not on the move yet, but he has definitely figured out how to get into position and rock back and forth. He looks around to make sure you are watching him and then he gets into position and just grins away at you. It's so cute. We better get the gates ready!! Last, but not least, Cody had an awesome night sleeping last night (13 hours in row thank you very much), and to my surprise when he got up this morning his 1st tooth FINALLY popped through. And he slept right through it. YAY!!!!

What a SCARY week..........

What an awful week we had. YIKES!!!!! It all started with Austin's cold Valentine's weekend; the congestion and nasty cough, plus the grumpiness that goes along with not feeling good. Cody was happy and showed no signs of anything all weekend. Well, Monday morning he woke up with a little snotty nose, but still seemed happy otherwise. He didn't want to nap that day, but he was still up for playing. That night we headed out to dinner with friends and then put the kids to bed as usual that night. Well, on the monitor I could hear Cody tossing and turning and talking away to himself in between short stretches of sleep, but he wasn't fussy. Well, around 11pm Todd was fast asleep on the couch and I was in bed on the computer when all of a sudden I heard this awful gasp from Cody's monitor and then the barky cough to follow. I flew into his bedroom and found him BURNING UP and having difficulty breathing and barking like a seal. I yell for Todd and immediately get Cody in the bathroom with the hot shower on. He sounded horrible and was getting blue around his mouth. He about gave me a heart attack!!!! After about 20 minutes his breathing got a little better and once he calmed down his coloring got better too. That was only the start of our night. I sent Todd to bed and I took up camp on our couch holding Cody upright and watching him breathe. We continued the hanging out in the bathroom with the hot steam and running outside into the cool air throughout the night. We did head to the Urgent Care the next day and got Cody started on steroids. He even scared the Dr.'s there with his color change and horrible breathing and they kept us in the back for awhile to watch him. Thank goodness we were able to get 2 doses of steroids in him before Tuesday night; much better night. He was still a little barky and VERY congested, but he was breathing much easier. Each day has gotten a little better; the cough is much looser and his nose isn't as congested. Today, he finally took a very peaceful nap, along with Austin, and was much happier this evening. I think both kids are finally on the road to recovery. What a stressful and tiring week. We could all use a very good nights sleep. Good Night!!!!!

Here is a few pictures of our little man working on crawling; he finally has figured out how to get on his knees and rock back and forth. Very soon those baby gates will be going up. He also likes to stand and play with his toys. These pics were after his wonderful nap today. I am so glad he is smiling again. (Austin was still sleeping when I was taking these pics)....

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!!! Well, this year Todd was hanging out in Florida for the big Daytona 500 on Valentine's Day, but we still celebrated with a yummy belated Steak & Lobster dinner after he got back. What a GREAT dinner we had at home. Yummmmmm!!!

And here's our little monkey on his 1st Valentine's Day!!! Austin was feeling a little under the weather so he wasn't in any of the pictures. That was only the start to our horrible week. Cody was being goofy as usual and was sitting in a diaper box. The stinker also pulled himself up for a few seconds to stand in that box too. He was so proud.....
Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!!!

A Day of JUMPING.........

Last week we headed to Monkey Joe's to let Austin jump around and burn off some energy, plus Daddy was leaving the next day for Daytona. He LOVES that place and we LOVE that he has soooo much fun and is soooo tired after we leave. Cody is so good there just watching everything around him; he can't wait to be able to chase after his Big Brother...................
Cody had so much fun watching Austin run and jump around. He did get in the baby jumper and tried climbing around. He especially LOVED having Austin jump around him and bounce him a little. It was so much fun watching the two of them.
As you can see Austin was thrilled to JUMP!!!!! As soon as Daddy mentioned Monkey Joe's that morning, that was all Austin could talk about all day. What a great place to take the kids on a cold and rainy day.

Cody's 8 month pictures.....

So I finally picked up Cody's 8 month pictures today. They turned out really cute. I LOVE the pouting picture of him; he wasn't too sure of the photographer at that point, but he got better as you can see. He looked so old standing there and sitting on that step. Can't believe how fast the time is going.... We will be taking his next set of pictures soon so stay tuned. Hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

A Bitter Sweet Goodbye.........

So today was bitter sweet; we removed the infant car seat from the car and said bye bye to it. It was sad to think our baby is getting so big, but we're having such a fun time watching him grow up as well.

Our little man, or should I say BIG man, was so excited to get into his new Big Boy car seat today. I can't believe we have reached this milestone already. Although he has been in the infant car seat, it has been quite awhile since we actually carried him around in it. So we thought it is finally time. Plus Austin had surpassed the height limitation for that car seat and had to move up as well. He was so cute when I put him into his new seat to adjust the straps; he just grinned from ear to ear sitting in the middle of our living room. Well, our baby boy is growing up fast; maybe a little tooooooo fast.

A fun friday night.......

Austin had such a fun Friday night playing on the computer, playing with his trains, and watching Thomas with his buddy Ayden. He has had such a rough week being a very ornery and stubborn 3 1/2 year old boy, that it was a nice to have him smiling tonight. Thank goodness this week is over. I think Austin gave me some gray hairs this week, AYE!!!!

SNOW in North Carolina.......

We have had a pretty nice winter this year, but we have had a few chilly days as well. This past week we finally got some snow. They were BIG snowflakes and were so much to watch. Austin was so excited when he woke up the next morning and saw that the grass was white. It didn't last long and no shoveling was required thank goodness, but it was a nice little surprise. Now it's suppose to be almost 70 degrees this weekend. Gotta love this weather in this state....
